So, will the truth, or something closer to it, soon be revealed, after 60 years?
I was in elementary school when it happened. Teachers were crying, the flag was dropped to half mast, we got out of school early. It was a helluva weekend. His alleged killer was shot– on live TV– and died a short time later, before any real investigation could unfold. And the Warren Report was supposed to be the final word on what happened.
Sounds like maybe that’s not the case. Conspiracy theories aside, it’s been difficult to let this go. The longer one has to mull it over, the more likely it is that one may question the finding that Oswald acted alone. It was no secret that there was no love loss between certain factions and JFK—the CIA, LBJ himself. And I was surprised to recently learn of an actual conversation, a week after the assassination, between LBJ and J. Edgar Hoover, in which Hoover is alleged to have said, out loud, that there was more than one gunman.
So, either many await vindication for their “cockamamy” grassy knoll beliefs, or enough time still hasn’t passed, and the official word will still be, in effect, “all you hair-brained conspiracy junkies are out to lunch.”
It would be deliciously rich to hear, though, that there was a plan, that it wasn’t just a lone, angry man pulling off one of the more shocking events in our nation’s history. Which then begs the question, “How could they keep such a plan under wraps for all these years?”
I don’t consider Rob Reiner to be a hack. I hear he might have something to add to the conversation. He doesn’t seem to be getting a lot of attention, though, so maybe it’s just the latest instance of being unable to take “no conspiracy” for an answer. Who knows? Maybe time will finally tell.
